It discusses at length the four Manhattan patents, one of which made Manhattan revolvers the safest arms of the percussion period and establishes the connection of the Manhattan .22 caliber revolvers with the early, if not the first, usage of the .22 long cartridge. Set forth in exciting detail is the lawsuit between Smith & Wesson and Herman Boker & Company, sales agents for Manhattan, for infringement of Rollin Whites patent of 1855. 250 Pages.
